It is important to store MRE's properly.
Optimal storage conditions
Temperature: Store MREs in a cool place, ideally below 60 degrees F Consistent temperatures are better than fluctuating ones.
Location: Choose a dark, dry location like a basement or pantry.
Packaging: Ensure the outer packaging remains sealed and intact. Any punctures or tears can allow contaminants to get in.
Pest control: Keep MREs in a container to protect them from mice and other pests.
What to avoid Heat: Do not store MREs in places with high temperatures, such as a car trunk in the summer, as this significantly shortens their shelf life.
Freezing: Avoid freezing MREs, as this can damage the pouches and seals, leading to spoilage.
Sunlight: Keep them out of direct sunlight
