Grey Ghost BAR-5200 Military Rucksack Multicam

Behold, this is Grey Ghost’s evolution of the military issue large ALICE Pack. Our BAR-5200 Pack brings many modern improvements to the decades old ALICE Pack... along with the GGG flair you’ve come to expect. Constructed from 500 denier Cordura Nylon with reinforcing on the high stress areas of the pack, the pack consists of eight exterior pouches plus a claymore pocket on the top of the flap with an additional zippered mesh pocket underneath.

Speaking of zippers, all of the exterior pouches have weather resistance built in, with drainage grommets in the bottom just in case you left a zipper open in a hurricane. The main compartment can be accessed either by unbuckling and lifting the top flap, or by opening the backdoor that’s zippered in the back just above the carry handle. Hook and loop panels are available for personal identification, but that’s not all. Extremely generous foam padding in the shoulder straps and waist belt ensure you can strap her down tight and still hoof a heavy load in comfort thanks to the included frame, straps and belt. With a total volume of around 5200 cubic inches, you’ll appreciate the added comfort when it’s loaded to capacity.

Very Limited quantity available for preorder...if you want one please order now before they are all gone.

Not my cup of tea, but very well made

The bag is high quality and spacious and the waist belt is incredibly comfortable, but the TT MALICE frame is the perfect height to line up with my neck and jam into it like a guillotine (I’m 5’6”) and I had to replace it with a 1606 frame. Additionally, it suffers from the same issue as a traditional ALICE pack where the weight likes to hang outwards and down even with an optimal packing layout, making heavier loads (35lb+) grueling to carry (I found this with both the MALICE and 1606 frame). While the frame problem has nothing to do with the equipment itself, I feel that more effort could’ve gone into optimizing the bag for loading weight high and near the user’s back. Besides that, the material, stitching, and overall finish of the bag is very nice and the zippers are water resistant as advertised. Overall, the bag falls in line with its ALICE inspiration with many of the same advantages and problems as its predecessor.
